Every Thursday night at 7:30-9pm, we will have a guest teacher who is currently working in the industry, and the best part is that the class is open to EVERYONE! During January, Amber-Jade was lucky enough to be selected to be a part of the Dream Dance Creative, a company of dancers aged 12-17 who took part in a week-long dance intensive run by Marko Panzic. During the week she worked with incredible choreographers such as Marko Panzic and Lucy Doherty. At the end of the week, the dancers put on a show for the public to showcase all of their hard work throughout the week. Not only did each dancer perform a solo but they all learned multiple group dances which looked like they had been performed for months, not a few days.
This was an amazing experience for Amber-Jade but the experience didn't end that week. She and the whole cast was invited to perform with the Dream Dance Company at their show during the Australian Dance Festival, one of the biggest dance events of the year. We are all so proud of AJ and can't wait to see where she goes from here.
We would like to congratulate our very own Miss Jessica Smithson who just completed her Show Business Course run by the Dream Dance Company. To celebrate the completion of the course, a showcase was put together and some of our constant groove students were able to go and watch the show. We are very proud of Miss Jess, as he was definitely a standout in the show. We have always known that she was an incredible talent and now everyone else does too. We hope this gets her a foot in the door so she is able to pursue her dreams in the dance industry.
Christian Hart's Overseas Experience
Christian recently was lucky enough to go on a trip to Spain to compete as well as participate in numerous workshops due to winning the prestigious title of Pre-Senior Dancer of the Year for Hollywood Bound. Christian was quite successful in both routines he competed in, getting a platinum gold in his contemporary solo and placing second in his trio which scored a double platinum gold. On the last day he performed all the workshop routines at the gala night and then they announced awards and scholarships. Christian received a scholarship to the Pulse which is a week’s worth of workshops in L.A, New York and Las Vegas with choreographers from so you think you can dance (in the U.S).
He also won another scholarship to the AMDA summer high school conservatory which is in LA and New York at Broadway dance Centre and get to audition and do workshops. He will be able to do both of these incredible prizes next year.
Holly Robinson Wins Dancelife Unite !
The competition world is very tough and we are very proud of Holly Robinson for her recent success. Holly is just 7 years old and has already achieved major things in the Dance world. In January, this year Holly competed in the National Championships as the youngest competitor in her age group and was crowned “Petite Dancer of the Year” winning herself a spot to represent Australia in the Dance World Cup in Spain and the Dance World Movement in Italy in June/July this year to compete against 47 other countries. Holly also won another major National Dance Championships in September last year again being crowned “Petite National Champion” and winning herself a trip to the USA to compete in the Pulse workshops. In the Grand Final Holly was 2 years younger than the other 3 competitors and was the competitions youngest ever winner. She became the junior “Face of Capezio” winning herself a major modelling contract with brand who is a major international dancewear company. Again, Holly is their youngest ever winner for this modelling competition and contract. She also recently won the Dancelife Unite Sportsmanship Award. Additionally, she has appeared in several TV adverts including Toys R Us / Toyota / Wonderwhite / ABCME
